Notice that 15 = HCF(30,15) = HCF(75,30) = HCF(105,75) = HCF(180,105) = HCF(285,180) = HCF(465,285) .
We can take hcf of as 1st numbers and next number as another number to apply in Euclidean lemma
Step 1: Since 599 > 15, we apply the division lemma to 599 and 15, to get
599 = 15 x 39 + 14
Step 2: Since the reminder 15 ≠ 0, we apply division lemma to 14 and 15, to get
15 = 14 x 1 + 1
Step 3: We consider the new divisor 14 and the new remainder 1, and apply the division lemma to get
14 = 1 x 14 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 1, the HCF of 15 and 599 is 1
Notice that 1 = HCF(14,1) = HCF(15,14) = HCF(599,15) .
