The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 20, the HCF of 800 and 580 is 20
Notice that 20 = HCF(60,20) = HCF(80,60) = HCF(140,80) = HCF(220,140) = HCF(580,220) = HCF(800,580) .
We can take hcf of as 1st numbers and next number as another number to apply in Euclidean lemma
Step 1: Since 230 > 20, we apply the division lemma to 230 and 20, to get
230 = 20 x 11 + 10
Step 2: Since the reminder 20 ≠ 0, we apply division lemma to 10 and 20, to get
20 = 10 x 2 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 10, the HCF of 20 and 230 is 10
