Solve the Rational Equation for x 2/x=(x+5)/(3x)

The LCM for ${\displaystyle x,3x}$ is the numeric part ${\displaystyle 3}$ multiplied by the variable part.

Multiply each term in ${\displaystyle \frac{2}{x}=\frac{x+5}{3x}}$ by ${\displaystyle 3x}$.

Simplify the left side.

Simplify the right side.

Rewrite the equation as ${\displaystyle x+5=6}$.

Move all terms not containing ${\displaystyle x}$ to the right side of the equation.
