52 = 40 x 1 + 12
We consider the new divisor 40 and the new remainder 12,and apply the division lemma to get
40 = 12 x 3 + 4
We consider the new divisor 12 and the new remainder 4,and apply the division lemma to get
12 = 4 x 3 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 4, the HCF of 300 and 352 is 4
Notice that 4 = HCF(12,4) = HCF(40,12) = HCF(52,40) = HCF(300,52) = HCF(352,300) .
We can take hcf of as 1st numbers and next number as another number to apply in Euclidean lemma
Step 1: Since 496 > 4, we apply the division lemma to 496 and 4, to get
496 = 4 x 124 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 4, the HCF of 4 and 496 is 4
Notice that 4 = HCF(496,4) .
We can take hcf of as 1st numbers and next number as another number to apply in Euclidean lemma
Step 1: Since 960 > 4, we apply the division lemma to 960 and 4, to get
960 = 4 x 240 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 4, the HCF of 4 and 960 is 4
