226 = 113 x 2 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 113, the HCF of 339 and 565 is 113
Notice that 113 = HCF(226,113) = HCF(339,226) = HCF(565,339) .
We can take hcf of as 1st numbers and next number as another number to apply in Euclidean lemma
Step 1: Since 572 > 113, we apply the division lemma to 572 and 113, to get
572 = 113 x 5 + 7
Step 2: Since the reminder 113 ≠ 0, we apply division lemma to 7 and 113, to get
113 = 7 x 16 + 1
Step 3: We consider the new divisor 7 and the new remainder 1, and apply the division lemma to get
7 = 1 x 7 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 1, the HCF of 113 and 572 is 1
Notice that 1 = HCF(7,1) = HCF(113,7) = HCF(572,113) .
