The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 29, the HCF of 348 and 899 is 29
Notice that 29 = HCF(58,29) = HCF(145,58) = HCF(203,145) = HCF(348,203) = HCF(899,348) .
We can take hcf of as 1st numbers and next number as another number to apply in Euclidean lemma
Step 1: Since 550 > 29, we apply the division lemma to 550 and 29, to get
550 = 29 x 18 + 28
Step 2: Since the reminder 29 ≠ 0, we apply division lemma to 28 and 29, to get
29 = 28 x 1 + 1
Step 3: We consider the new divisor 28 and the new remainder 1, and apply the division lemma to get
28 = 1 x 28 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 1, the HCF of 29 and 550 is 1
