The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 16, the HCF of 432 and 784 is 16
Notice that 16 = HCF(32,16) = HCF(80,32) = HCF(352,80) = HCF(432,352) = HCF(784,432) .
We can take hcf of as 1st numbers and next number as another number to apply in Euclidean lemma
Step 1: Since 60 > 16, we apply the division lemma to 60 and 16, to get
60 = 16 x 3 + 12
Step 2: Since the reminder 16 ≠ 0, we apply division lemma to 12 and 16, to get
16 = 12 x 1 + 4
Step 3: We consider the new divisor 12 and the new remainder 4, and apply the division lemma to get
12 = 4 x 3 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 4, the HCF of 16 and 60 is 4
