The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 2, the HCF of 458 and 938 is 2
Notice that 2 = HCF(4,2) = HCF(18,4) = HCF(22,18) = HCF(458,22) = HCF(938,458) .
We can take hcf of as 1st numbers and next number as another number to apply in Euclidean lemma
Step 1: Since 376 > 2, we apply the division lemma to 376 and 2, to get
376 = 2 x 188 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 2, the HCF of 2 and 376 is 2
Notice that 2 = HCF(376,2) .
We can take hcf of as 1st numbers and next number as another number to apply in Euclidean lemma
Step 1: Since 649 > 2, we apply the division lemma to 649 and 2, to get
649 = 2 x 324 + 1
Step 2: Since the reminder 2 ≠ 0, we apply division lemma to 1 and 2, to get
2 = 1 x 2 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 1, the HCF of 2 and 649 is 1
