Step 3: We consider the new divisor 91 and the new remainder 14, and apply the division lemma to get
91 = 14 x 6 + 7
We consider the new divisor 14 and the new remainder 7, and apply the division lemma to get
14 = 7 x 2 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 7, the HCF of 469 and 378 is 7
Notice that 7 = HCF(14,7) = HCF(91,14) = HCF(378,91) = HCF(469,378) .
We can take hcf of as 1st numbers and next number as another number to apply in Euclidean lemma
Step 1: Since 800 > 7, we apply the division lemma to 800 and 7, to get
800 = 7 x 114 + 2
Step 2: Since the reminder 7 ≠ 0, we apply division lemma to 2 and 7, to get
7 = 2 x 3 + 1
Step 3: We consider the new divisor 2 and the new remainder 1, and apply the division lemma to get
2 = 1 x 2 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 1, the HCF of 7 and 800 is 1
Notice that 1 = HCF(2,1) = HCF(7,2) = HCF(800,7) .
We can take hcf of as 1st numbers and next number as another number to apply in Euclidean lemma
Step 1: Since 481 > 1, we apply the division lemma to 481 and 1, to get
481 = 1 x 481 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 1, the HCF of 1 and 481 is 1
