The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 2, the HCF of 572 and 402 is 2
Notice that 2 = HCF(14,2) = HCF(16,14) = HCF(46,16) = HCF(62,46) = HCF(170,62) = HCF(402,170) = HCF(572,402) .
We can take hcf of as 1st numbers and next number as another number to apply in Euclidean lemma
Step 1: Since 103 > 2, we apply the division lemma to 103 and 2, to get
103 = 2 x 51 + 1
Step 2: Since the reminder 2 ≠ 0, we apply division lemma to 1 and 2, to get
2 = 1 x 2 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 1, the HCF of 2 and 103 is 1
