The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 1, the HCF of 613 and 871 is 1
Notice that 1 = HCF(2,1) = HCF(31,2) = HCF(33,31) = HCF(64,33) = HCF(97,64) = HCF(258,97) = HCF(613,258) = HCF(871,613) .
