124 = 122 x 1 + 2
We consider the new divisor 122 and the new remainder 2, and apply the division lemma to get

The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 2, the HCF of 616 and 246 is 2
Notice that 2 = HCF(122,2) = HCF(124,122) = HCF(246,124) = HCF(616,246) .
We can take hcf of as 1st numbers and next number as another number to apply in Euclidean lemma
Step 1: Since 90 > 2, we apply the division lemma to 90 and 2, to get
90 = 2 x 45 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 2, the HCF of 2 and 90 is 2
Notice that 2 = HCF(90,2) .

Step 1: Since 145 > 2, we apply the division lemma to 145 and 2, to get
145 = 2 x 72 + 1
Step 2: Since the reminder 2 ≠ 0, we apply division lemma to 1 and 2, to get
2 = 1 x 2 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 1, the HCF of 2 and 145 is 1
