The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 4, the HCF of 644 and 412 is 4
Notice that 4 = HCF(24,4) = HCF(52,24) = HCF(180,52) = HCF(232,180) = HCF(412,232) = HCF(644,412) .
We can take hcf of as 1st numbers and next number as another number to apply in Euclidean lemma
Step 1: Since 186 > 4, we apply the division lemma to 186 and 4, to get
186 = 4 x 46 + 2
Step 2: Since the reminder 4 ≠ 0, we apply division lemma to 2 and 4, to get
4 = 2 x 2 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 2, the HCF of 4 and 186 is 2
