The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 2, the HCF of 682 and 942 is 2
Notice that 2 = HCF(4,2) = HCF(30,4) = HCF(34,30) = HCF(64,34) = HCF(98,64) = HCF(162,98) = HCF(260,162) = HCF(682,260) = HCF(942,682) .
