4 = 2 x 2 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 2, the HCF of 70 and 54 is 2
Notice that 2 = HCF(4,2) = HCF(6,4) = HCF(16,6) = HCF(54,16) = HCF(70,54) .
We can take hcf of as 1st numbers and next number as another number to apply in Euclidean lemma
Step 1: Since 72 > 2, we apply the division lemma to 72 and 2, to get
72 = 2 x 36 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 2, the HCF of 2 and 72 is 2
Notice that 2 = HCF(72,2) .
We can take hcf of as 1st numbers and next number as another number to apply in Euclidean lemma
Step 1: Since 629 > 2, we apply the division lemma to 629 and 2, to get
629 = 2 x 314 + 1
Step 2: Since the reminder 2 ≠ 0, we apply division lemma to 1 and 2, to get
2 = 1 x 2 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 1, the HCF of 2 and 629 is 1
Notice that 1 = HCF(2,1) = HCF(629,2) .
