The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 1, the HCF of 991 and 356 is 1
Notice that 1 = HCF(9,1) = HCF(10,9) = HCF(19,10) = HCF(29,19) = HCF(48,29) = HCF(77,48) = HCF(279,77) = HCF(356,279) = HCF(991,356) .
We can take hcf of as 1st numbers and next number as another number to apply in Euclidean lemma
Step 1: Since 16 > 1, we apply the division lemma to 16 and 1, to get
16 = 1 x 16 + 0
The remainder has now become zero, so our procedure stops. Since the divisor at this stage is 1, the HCF of 1 and 16 is 1
